Multichain USDT: Why BSC, Polygon, and Arbitrum

Why GamesP2P supports three chains for USDT payments instead of just one. The technical, economic, and UX reasons behind the multichain decision.

The single-chain problem

A platform that accepts USDT on a single chain forces the user to use that chain. If the platform only supports Ethereum mainnet, the user pays Ethereum gas fees (often $5-30 per transaction). If it only supports Tron, the user must use Tron (which has lower fees but less DeFi ecosystem). The single-chain decision is convenient for the platform but penalizes the user.

GamesP2P rejects this approach. We support three chains (BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum) so the Competidor can choose the one that best suits their situation: lowest fees, fastest confirmation, or best integration with their existing wallet. Multichain is not a technical luxury — it is respect for the user.

BSC (Binance Smart Chain)

BSC is the chain with the largest USDT user base after Ethereum mainnet. Its advantages: very low fees (typically $0.10-0.30 per transaction), 3-second block confirmation, and a massive ecosystem of wallets, exchanges, and DeFi protocols. Most Competidores who already use crypto have a BSC wallet.

The disadvantage of BSC is centralization: it is a chain operated by 21 validators chosen by Binance. This is not a problem for payments (the chain has functioned without incidents for years), but it is a consideration for those who value maximal decentralization. At GamesP2P, BSC is the default chain for new Competidores because it combines low fees, broad adoption, and reliability.

Polygon

Polygon (formerly Matic) is a Layer-2 sidechain that uses ETH as bridge asset. Its advantages: extremely low fees (often less than $0.01 per transaction), fast confirmation (2-3 seconds), and native integration with the Ethereum ecosystem. Tokens can be bridged from Ethereum mainnet to Polygon without intermediaries.

The disadvantage of Polygon is that it requires an initial bridge from Ethereum mainnet (which has fees), and some wallets do not support it natively (you need to add the network manually). For Competidores already operating on the Ethereum ecosystem, Polygon is the natural choice for low-cost transactions.

Arbitrum

Arbitrum is an Optimistic Rollup Layer-2 for Ethereum. Its advantages: lower fees than mainnet (typically $0.20-0.50 per transaction), full EVM compatibility (any Ethereum contract runs on Arbitrum without changes), and a growing DeFi and gaming ecosystem. Arbitrum inherits Ethereum security (it is a true Layer-2, not a sidechain).

The disadvantage of Arbitrum is the 7-day withdrawal period to mainnet (a feature of Optimistic Rollups). For GamesP2P this is not a problem (in-game deposits/withdrawals happen on Arbitrum directly), but it is a consideration if the Competidor wants to move funds to Ethereum mainnet. For our use case, Arbitrum offers the best balance between Ethereum-grade security and low fees.

Which one to choose?

There is no single "best" chain — it depends on the Competidor's profile. If you are new to crypto and want the simplest experience with broad compatibility, BSC is the choice. If you already operate on Ethereum and want minimal fees, Polygon is ideal. If you want Ethereum security with reasonable fees and full EVM compatibility, Arbitrum is the answer.

At GamesP2P, we let the Competidor choose. We do not charge fees for chain selection (only the standard 3% on the pot: 2.5% house + 0.25% sponsor + 0.25% botín). And we do not force conversions between chains: if you deposit on BSC, you play on BSC; if you deposit on Arbitrum, you play on Arbitrum. The multichain experience should be transparent, not a tax on the user.

  • Si vienes de Binance o vives en LatAm/Asia/África: BSC. Fees razonables, adopción masiva.
  • Si haces muchas micro-transacciones (varias Partidas al día): Polygon. Fees ultra bajos.
  • Si priorizas seguridad L1 y no te importa esperar retiros: Arbitrum. Hereda Ethereum.
  • Si dudas: empieza con BSC. Es el equilibrio entre fees, velocidad, y ecosistema.

Why not Ethereum mainnet

Ethereum mainnet is the most secure and decentralized chain, but its fees ($5-30 per transaction) make it impractical for Matches with small pots. A $10 USDT Match would lose 30-50% of the pot to gas fees, which destroys the value proposition. GamesP2P supports Ethereum mainnet only for high-stakes Matches (above $1000 USDT), where gas fees are a small percentage of the pot.

For Matches below $1000, we recommend BSC, Polygon, or Arbitrum. This is not a technical limitation — it is a UX decision. We want the Competidor to be able to play $5 or $10 Matches without losing a third of the pot to fees. Ethereum mainnet is excellent for what it is (settlement layer for high-value transactions), but it is not the right chain for everyday gaming.
